MioTales helps you create personalized children's books with AI. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you visit https://miotales.com or use our services.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run MioTales:
Account details: Name, email, password or single-sign-on identifiers, and subscription status.
Book inputs & creations: Prompts, character details, names, age ranges, story settings, generated stories, illustrations, and any files you upload (e.g., reference photos).
Payment and billing metadata: Billing email, transaction IDs, and plan details processed by DodoPayments. We do not store full card numbers.
Usage & device data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, interactions, performance metrics, and event analytics collected via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. If enabled, we also collect aggregated visit data via Pirsch.
Support interactions: Messages you send to us by email or through the in-app support/chat experience.
2. How We Use Data
We use your data to:
Operate, secure, and improve the MioTales platform
Generate stories and illustrations based on your inputs
Manage subscriptions, payments, and account access
Provide customer support and respond to requests
Monitor performance, debug issues, and analyze product usage
Send necessary service communications (receipts, account notices) and optional marketing (which you can opt out of)
Comply with legal requirements and prevent abuse
3. AI and Uploaded Media
We use OpenAI for text generation and Replicate for image generation. Inputs you provide are used only to create your requested content.
We do not use your prompts, books, or uploads to train public AI models.
Uploaded reference photos stay tied to your account while your subscription is active. If your subscription ends, we delete stored reference photos within 14 days. The generated books and illustrations remain in your library until you delete them.
You can delete your uploads and generated assets at any time from your account.
4. Sharing and Service Providers
We share data only with providers that help us run MioTales:
Supabase: Authentication, database, and file storage.
Vercel: Hosting, deployment, performance monitoring (Speed Insights), and product analytics.
Pirsch (if enabled): Privacy-focused, aggregated web analytics.
DodoPayments: Subscription and payment processing (we don't store full card details).
OpenAI & Replicate: Text and image generation based on your prompts.
Resend and email infrastructure: Service emails and notifications.
Customer support tooling: In-app chat/support (Userdesk) and email ticketing.
These providers receive only the data needed to perform their services and are required to safeguard it.
5. Data Retention
Account data: Kept while your account is active and as needed for legal/accounting obligations.
Books, prompts, and illustrations: Stored until you delete them or request deletion.
Uploaded reference photos: Deleted within 14 days after a subscription ends, or sooner if you delete them.
Analytics and logs: Up to 24 months for security, debugging, and product insights.
Support correspondence: Up to 24 months after closure of the request.
6. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow industry practices and limit access to authorized personnel.
7. International Transfers
MioTales operates globally. Data may be processed in the United States and other regions where our providers operate. When required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for international transfers.
8. Children's Privacy
MioTales is built for adults to create content for children. You must be 13 or older to create an account; users under 18 need parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, preferences, performance measurement, and analytics. You can control cookies in your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features.
